CONTRIBUTING TOWARDS QUALITY EDUCATION PROSPERITY AND STABILITY
About Uganda Muslim Teacher’s Association
Uganda Muslim Teachers’ Association (UMTA) was established in 1988.
It is a national non-governmental not for profit registered organisation working across the country. UMTA is a vibrant professional organization uniting Muslim teachers irrespective of their social and political affiliation.
Over the last 30 years, UMTA has been working to increase access to quality and wholesome education. We focus on delivering quality education, the welfare of teachers, building capacity of the teachers and schools to deliver quality education, and mainstreaming cross cutting issues related to quality education.
UMTA seeks to contribute to the nurturing and growth of a vibrant Muslim Ummah through well- thought out initiatives that will increase Muslim participation in the education, social and economic development of Uganda and the entire world. This participation can only be meaningful if the Muslim intellectuals can be mobilized and facilitated to provide leadership on key issues in the community, the country and the world.
Quality education is the greatest tool for transforming the Ummah and Society. Participating in the Planning, managing, financing and delivery of quality education is the greatest gift you can give the Ummah and nation.
Based on its critical role, education is therefore too important and too big to be left to teachers alone – Quality education MUST be everybody’s business. But teachers are also too important to remain in the classrooms – they must be able to impact entire schools and communities.
